Manabu Kaji pursues a variety of expressions using clay and fire in the vast nature of Hokkaido.
This is an earthenware work created by field firing.
By firing directly on the clay, shades of reddish brown and black, and scorch marks appear. Depending on the movement of the flames and the environment during firing, a primitive and powerful landscape that is different for each piece is engraved.
The generously rising form and the volume reminiscent of a lump of clay are also attractive. If you arrange branches or large flowers, it will create a relaxed scenery in the space.
Even without arranging flowers, it is a work that you can enjoy its presence as a single object.
