Shotoku Glass
Artist : Shotoku Glass
Material : Glass
Area : Sumida, Tokyo, Japan
Shotoku Glass was established as a manufacturer of light bulbs in 1922.
In 1989, they introduced "USUHARI," an ultra-thin blown glassware that has become a hallmark of Shotoku Glass, crafted using the skills honed by their artisans through years of light bulb production.
The glass’s light texture when held, along with its delicate feel, enhances the flavor of drinks, adding enjoyment to any occasion, whether at home or in restaurants.
With a vision of "bringing more glass to the dining table," Shotoku Glass is pushing the boundaries of their craft by producing sake bottles, choko cups, and rock glasses, and by collaborating with kiriko (cut glass) artisans.
The elegantly simple designs, achievable only by highly skilled craftsmen, blend seamlessly with tableware of any material, enriching both meals and dining experiences.
