Teppei Terada
Artist : Teppei Terada
Material : Pottery clay
Area : Seto, Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Teppei Terada, the fifth-generation ceramicist of Miyama Pottery, which has been operating for over 130 years in Seto, one of Japan’s renowned pottery regions, focuses on Oribe ware. His hand-formed flower vases, crafted through carbon firing, have a strong, earthy presence, as though they were unearthed from the soil. The rough texture, characteristic of unglazed clay, brings out a nostalgic and emotional charm.
