Shingo Oka
Shingo Oka, born in 1958 in Nagasaki, trained at the Saga Prefecture Experimental Ceramics Center and spent a decade working at Hizen Kilns before establishing his Tenpyougama Kiln in Karatsu City. His work spans various styles, from sometsuke (indigo-dyed) and white porcelain to Annan ware, with a focus on user-friendliness — perfectly balanced in size, weight, and texture.
Inspired by historical styles like Joseon white porcelain and early Imari ware, Oka creates with a modern sensibility, staying true to his philosophy of "being true to himself." His pieces blend tension and ease, inviting users to plate food beautifully, growing more beloved with every use.
