As Kyoto prepares to welcome the Gion Festival's Saki Matsuri, the city is gradually giving way to the height of summer.
With each passing day bringing stronger sunshine and warmer temperatures, we hope this message finds you well.
Following its warm reception at our gallery, we are delighted to present Shimoo Design × Yuichi Takemata × KYO AMAHARE "Kobi, Shinbi" (Old Beauty, New Beauty) as an Online Exhibition.
Created especially for this exhibition, Shimoo-san's new Botanical-Dyed works introduce a fresh expression to his wooden creations.
Soft hues drawn from natural plants quietly permeate the surface of the wood, giving each piece a remarkable sense of depth, almost like a painting.
Another highlight of the exhibition is the collaborative table created especially for this presentation by Shimoo-san and Takemata-san.
The table's metal base, designed by Takemata-san, embodies his pursuit of a form that achieves both lightness and structural strength. Stripped of all excess, its refined silhouette quietly expresses the beauty of utility.
In contrast, the tabletop crafted by Shimoo-san reveals the rich grain, texture, and warmth unique to wood.
Bringing together two distinct materials—wood and metal—the table allows each to enhance the other's character, creating a quiet dialogue between strength and warmth. The resulting balance lends the surrounding space both a subtle sense of tension and a feeling of calm harmony.
