Yuichi Takemata × AMAHARE "Reflections in Metal"
After two years, we are delighted to once again host an exhibition of metalwork artist Yuichi Takemata at AMAHARE.
Since encountering Takemata’s work, we have become ever more conscious of the relationship between metal and light—the marks left by hammering, bending, and polishing.
Through these traces of craftsmanship, light and texture intertwine, revealing the beauty of shadow and reflection.
This exhibition features a selection of his latest creations, including stemmed tumblers born from a sake event, newly crafted copper pots, an evolved wine cooler, and, of course, his signature cutlery.
As the light of spring begins to shift, we invite you to experience the quiet elegance of Takemata’s work and spend a moment of serenity with us.
We look forward to welcoming you.

The Shadow of a Stem
When we think of sake, we think of Takemata-san. And when we think of Takemata-san, we think of sake.
For a special sake event, Amahare was entrusted with curating the craftsmanship on display. The first person who came to mind was Takemata-san. When we approached him about creating glasses for heavy cocktails, he graciously accepted the challenge—and thus, this copper tumbler was born.
The elegant stem enhances its refinement, while the shadow it casts at its base is simply mesmerizing. Perfect not only for cocktails but also for beer, wine, and sake.
Quietly Gleaming
Previously, Takemata-san crafted brass chopstick rests, and for this exhibition, he kindly agreed to bring them back. We are truly grateful for his generosity in accommodating our requests.
Their petite size and simple form exude elegance. The tiny pits, a mark of the casting process, add to their character. As light falls on the ridges, subtle shadows dance across the table, quietly gleaming.
Subdued Glow
The hammered texture is one of the highlights of metalwork, and with this generously sized ladle, its beauty is even more pronounced.
Perfect for serving with ease, it offers both practicality and elegance—nesting beautifully when stacked. The subdued glow of antiqued stainless steel adds depth to its presence. A true embodiment of functional beauty, this ladle will make every mealtime something to look forward to.
Time and Shade
A copper pot with a commanding presence—just the thing to make you think, Tonight is shabu-shabu night!
Over time, it will develop even greater depth, with the shifting shadows of copper adding to its warmth and character.
Curves and Shadows
Ah, you may recognize this. If so, you're a true Takemata fan.
This is the Wine Cooler Light, a refined version of the classic wine cooler—thinner and lighter. Not only does it offer improved handling, but the finish around the rim also shows Takemata-san’s signature touch.
As you enjoy your drink, take a moment to appreciate the beautiful shadows created by its curves.
Light and Shadow
A brass tray, perfect for placing accessories or keys.
Brass is a metal that truly comes to life with light, and this was something I was reminded of while overseeing the photoshoot for this piece.
Having metalwork in our living spaces draws our attention to the light, allowing us to experience its subtle changes in a truly soothing way. It was through engaging with Takemata-san’s work that I was reminded of this beauty.
I am delighted to share the captivating light within metalwork with many more people through this exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you to our store, alongside the remarkable pieces by Takemata-san.
