The matte white glaze offers a softer impression, distinct from the traditional glossy white porcelain. As Sakai Tomoko mentions, using a downdraft wood-fired kiln allows for a depth of color and texture that is difficult to achieve in a gas kiln. The warmth of the finish and the depth of the hues are immediately apparent. The organic expression unique to hand-thrown pottery is particularly captivating.
