Michikazu Sakai Oribe Pot
Number : B05664
Artist : Michikzau Sakai/Kagawa Japan
Material : pottery clay
Dimensions : approx. W150 × D110 × H110 mm
Fired in Michikazu’s beloved anagama kiln, his Oribe pieces take on dramatically different expressions depending on how the fire strikes them and how the ash settles. Some emerge in bright tones reminiscent of autumn hills just beginning to turn color, while others develop deep, serene hues like a clear night sky filled with stars.
Despite the distinct atmosphere of each piece, they share a calm, matte texture that brings a sense of harmony—an aesthetic that reflects the very form Michikazu strives for. The pot’s gentle silhouette is irresistibly inviting, the kind that makes you want to brew tea the moment you pick it up.
