Yukiko Tsuchiya of Yukiko Kiln continues her pottery practice amidst the rich natural surroundings of Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.

This large, striking round ceramic plate is hand-built and finished by gently beating the surface with a stone, creating its distinctive texture and character.
The layered application of two different glazes produces remarkable depth and nuance in color, evoking the impression of a beautiful painting captured in ceramic form.

From roasted meats and seasonal vegetable compositions to sashimi-style platters arranged with a sense of space and balance, each dish is beautifully elevated on its surface. While it naturally becomes the centerpiece of the dining table, it also brings a quiet sense of beauty simply by being present.

*As each piece is entirely handmade, variations in size, shape, glaze application, and color may occur and may differ from the photographs shown.

*We recommend preparing the vessel before use:
soak it in warm water for hot dishes or in cold water for chilled dishes.

*The glaze is sensitive to acidic ingredients such as vinegar;
during the initial period of use, avoid prolonged contact with such foods.

*At first, you may notice a pale, powdery surface;
with repeated use and absorption of water,
it will gradually deepen into a rich, lustrous black.
