This kashikiri (sweet pick) is made from bamboo traditionally used in thatched roofs dating back to the Edo period.

Called Yūboshi (literally “Evening Star”), its design depicts the evening sky—not just Venus—on reddish bamboo with gold leaf. Over time, the gold leaf will naturally wear away, symbolizing the arrival of morning, making this a deeply poetic and literary piece.

Please note: As these items are handmade, each piece may vary in size, shape, glaze application, and color, and may differ from the photos.

Care instructions: After use, rinse promptly with water before any residue hardens. Wash gently without applying pressure. After washing, do not leave the item wet—wipe it dry and allow it to air dry naturally. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and high humidity.
