In the naturally rich land of Karatsu, Saga, ceramic artist Yukiko Tsuchiya of Yukiko Kiln continues her practice.

The katakuchi vessels created by Yukiko-san embody both the strength of traditional Karatsu ware and a refined elegance that harmonizes beautifully with contemporary living.
Their richly nuanced surfaces reveal different expressions depending on the angle and the light, enhancing the subtle interplay of shadow and form when sake is poured.
With its generous shape that settles comfortably into the hands, this piece transforms the simple pleasure of enjoying a favorite drink into a more meaningful and enriching experience.

*As each piece is entirely handmade, variations in size, shape, glaze application, and color may occur and may differ from the photographs shown.

*We recommend preparing the vessel before use:
soak it in warm water for hot dishes or in cold water for chilled dishes.

*The glaze is sensitive to acidic ingredients such as vinegar;
during the initial period of use, avoid prolonged contact with such foods.

*At first, you may notice a pale, powdery surface;
with repeated use and absorption of water,
it will gradually deepen into a rich, lustrous black.
