The wood carvings of Norihisa Mizuta evoke a profound sense of shiseikan—the Japanese perspective on life and death.

As he spends time with driftwood and aged materials he gathers himself, images of living creatures, feathers, and bones emerge in his mind. This piece is the result of his hands carving those visions into form.
In this piece, contrasting materials are intentionally combined—perhaps allowing the image of the bird that came to Mizuta's mind to emerge all the more vividly.

*Since natural wood is used, please refrain from installing it in a place that is extremely dry. Also, if it is installed in a place exposed to direct sunlight, it may discolor. Please note that the bark of the tree may come off over time.
