In the naturally rich land of Karatsu, Saga, ceramic artist Yukiko Tsuchiya of Yukiko Kiln continues her practice.

Her signature work, the “Kuro Karatsu” tea bowl, reveals a profound depth, showing a different expression each time it is held, shaped by the angle and play of light.
When tea is carefully whisked, the deep luster of the black glaze and the vivid green of the tea blend together, creating a striking harmony.
With continued use, affection deepens, making it a cherished bowl at the heart of quiet, special moments.

*As each piece is entirely handmade, variations in size, shape, glaze application, and color may occur and may differ from the photographs shown.

*We recommend preparing the vessel before use:
soak it in warm water for hot dishes or in cold water for chilled dishes.

*The glaze is sensitive to acidic ingredients such as vinegar;
during the initial period of use, avoid prolonged contact with such foods.

*At first, you may notice a pale, powdery surface;
with repeated use and absorption of water,
it will gradually deepen into a rich, lustrous black.
