●25-IM31 Large Painted Grayware Jar – Pegasus
Number : C02021
Artist : Ikumi Matsumoto
Material : Pottery Clay
Size : approx. Φ360mm H600mm
Along the Silk Road, travelers were supported by horses and camels.
The finest horses were called *heavenly steeds*, believed to be messengers of the divine—their images painted into ancient murals.
This large jar features a pair of such steeds, modestly winged and gently expressive.
They seem ready to gallop toward some distant realm, powerful yet graceful.
The painted grayware body, with its mural-like texture, holds vibrant colors that breathe with the prayers of ages past.
A single vessel, imbued with the memory of a long and storied journey.
