Nobuhiko Tanaka’s "Mizusashi." There is a certain poetic sensibility in his choice to title it in phonetic Katakana rather than using the traditional formal Kanji—a reflection of his unique artistic perspective.
The "Hai-Kohiki" series features vessels with a profound depth of expression. By mixing sand into porcelain, Tanaka creates a raw, rugged texture, which is then layered with white slip and a wood-ash glaze to produce a delicate web of fine crackles. The charm of these pieces lies in their unique presence—a seamless coexistence of the rustic warmth of earthenware and the refined, dignified aura of porcelain.
While its primary role in the tea ceremony is a water jar to replenish the kettle, its versatile beauty also makes it an ideal flower vase for seasonal blooms.
