Yukiko’s Signature Black Karatsu

Among her works, those with yōhen—natural kiln variations—are particularly special.
Inside the kiln, the glaze undergoes unexpected transformations,
creating a wide range of unique, uncontrived expressions.
Yukiko herself looks forward to each kiln opening,
eager to see how these spontaneous changes have taken shape.

*As each piece is entirely handmade, variations in size, shape, glaze application, and color may occur and may differ from the photographs shown.

*We recommend preparing the vessel before use:
soak it in warm water for hot dishes or in cold water for chilled dishes.

*The glaze is sensitive to acidic ingredients such as vinegar;
during the initial period of use, avoid prolonged contact with such foods.

*At first, you may notice a pale, powdery surface;
with repeated use and absorption of water,
it will gradually deepen into a rich, lustrous black.
