In the naturally rich land of Karatsu, Saga, ceramic artist Yukiko Tsuchiya of Yukiko Kiln continues her practice.

Her signature work, the “Kuro Karatsu” vase, reveals a profound depth, showing a different expression each time it is held, shaped by the angle and play of light. With a black base tone, it presents a layered surface where metallic luster and matte calmness coexist, occasionally evoking the softness and weight of raw clay itself.
These varied textures come together to create a presence that is both quietly powerful and deeply grounded.

Branches and wild plants can be arranged in a simple, unforced way.
Doing so further enhances its presence, bringing a sense of nature and quiet openness into the space.
