Wataru Hatano Window Landscape “Hanging Scroll” TW-13

After training in papermaking in Ayabe, Kyoto—home to the renowned Kurotani washi tradition—Wataru Hatano began creating works centered on washi as his primary material. With a desire to share the beauty of washi more widely, he produces both art and craft, while also proposing ways to incorporate washi into contemporary interior spaces.

Displaying a single scroll by Hatano brings a sense of quiet refinement to an alcove.
His fluid compositions and gentle palette envelop the space in a soft atmosphere, as if tenderly easing the mind.

The natural layering of color and the distinctive texture unique to washi reveal new expressions with every viewing, inviting moments of stillness and contemplation.
