Norihisa Mizuta Brass and Driftwood Horse I

Sale price3,460.72 kr

Exhibition Venue: KYO AMAHARE

The wood carvings of Norihisa Mizuta evoke a profound sense of shiseikan—the Japanese perspective on life and death.

As he spends time with driftwood and aged materials he gathers himself, images of living creatures, feathers, and bones emerge in his mind.
This piece is the result of his hands carving those visions into form.

In this piece, contrasting materials are intentionally combined—perhaps allowing the image of the horse that came to Mizuta-san's mind to emerge all the more vividly.
